Programme
Due to the latest rules laid down by the government we can no longer meet in a large group so all until further notice all monthly branch meetings are suspended
We ought to be considering this event for next year and organise a branch run so thinking caps on
The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs introduced Drive it Day in 2005 with the aim of getting the nation’s transport heritage out on the roads and seen by the public. Since then, the national celebration of Historic Vehicles has successfully increased public awareness of the historic vehicle movement whilst bringing a sense of togetherness to the thousands of owners and enthusiasts who attend events and runs up and down the country. Those events, held by over 500 member organisations and clubs that make up the Federation’s membership, are as varied as the vehicles taking part and often include Drive Outs, Rallies, and meetings at local beauty spots or historic sites.
There will be a good display of interesting vintage vehicles etc. on Wednesday August the 18th at Sharpness Docks
This event is by the STVC ( that’s the club who runs the annual South Cerney Steam Rally) and anyone is most welcome to go along and visit this display
Ian is happy to organise a ride out from Gloucester to Sharpness, leaving Gloucester at 16.30; Please note – He will not be going if it is raining
Let him know if you wish to join him to agree a meeting point.
Run to Forest of Dean Railway to receive the Eric Cox Trophy from Bristol Branch
This is Chris’ plan both for us and Bristol Branch:
Meet at the The Forest of Dean Railway Lydney GL15 4ET at 10.30 for Coffee
Chris will then take both groups out through the Forest for lunch at the Colliers Caf’e GL16 7EL for lunch and hand over of the Eric Cox Trophy and Pics for the Roadholder.
Chris has sent you all a menu and as they would like some idea at the caf’e of numbers to cater for, could you let Chris know (by E mail) before Monday the 11th
You may eat in or out and order big or small , Chris says it is good grub and that he and Jill use it themselves
As we need numbers for this event, you can arrive on two or four wheels and even bring your partners if you wish
At the November meeting discussions took place concerning where we might meet and when over the winter months and it was decided that we would not continue with meeting on Monday evenings until further notice, on taking a vote, the overall majority voted to meet once a month on Sunday mornings at various well-known Biker Friendly Cafes etc.
So, we will be kicking off with THE ‘GET GOING’ meeting which will be held on Sunday 5th December at the Silver Fox, Newnham on Severn, GL14 1JA at 10.30 in time for Breakfast (please look them up with their association with the Beatles & the Stones)
Our annual Christmas Dinner
At Ian’s suggestion we have asked the Kings Head at Birdwood if they could accommodate us, they could but not at our normal time in January. As a result of this Chris has approached the Aviator with the possibility of them putting on a dedicated Barbeque for us in the Summer and all being well this should be a runner.
For the future
January 9th 2022 we are back at the Aviator as we need to support them as they have been good to us. So, 10.30 for Breakfast/Meeting (if you want a breakfast you will have to arrive a bit earlier as Breakfast is only served until 10.45)
Venues for Sunday’s February 6th and March 6th are still to be arranged.
Please note that all being well, we plan to resume our usual ‘First Monday of the month meetings’ on April 4th at the Aviator.
If you need any further information then contact Chris or Jill
E Mail chris.s.one@btinternet.com
